I learned photography using a Nikon FM SLR camera and an awe inspiring amount of Kodak Tri-X ISO 400 film. A teenager trying too hard to appear Artistic, taking too many grainy black and white images of decaying industrial landscape, seedy motels, and a desolate downtown in desperate need of a Renaissance.
Because " gritty" in subject and grain meant " artistic".
Older. Wiser. An appreciation for the nuance, mood, and detail of the fine grain image.
Heavy grain has its place.
For now, I want to explore the fine.
